When I look back on my life, it is clear that I have been in the process of transformation since I left high school.  I have always felt there was something more, something yet to be discovered.  So choosing to explore a new process called coaching in addition to my life as a social worker didnt surprise me.  I now know that I will always continue to look for the more in my life as I bring my coaching and social work skills together in new and yet unfound ways.

In 1990, I returned to school to complete my Bachelors of Social Work (BSW).  I had been working with women and children at a Domestic Violence Program for 8 years.  I knew at that point in time that I loved working with people and that I was able to be a witness to the pain and suffering they had experienced.  Returning to school meant for me acquiring the book knowledge for what I already knew in my heart.

In 1995, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a BSW completing a degree 25 years after I originally began my college education.  I then continued school for another year in order to complete my Masters of Social Work (MSW).

I continued my education throughout the next ten years in various ways through certification training in conflict resolution, sandtray therapy, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, Suicide Prevention group work and most recently Life Coaching.  I believe that I am now living the something more each day and can say with great joy that I am living the life of the person I was born to be

Each area of work that I have been involved in over the past 25 years has been grounded in teaching and creating learning opportunities for adults and/or children.  Life coaching is a natural addition to what I already love to do.

In 2004 when I began my training as a life coach, I opened up my world to coaching and the State of Washington where I attended the Academy for Coach Training.  During that same time I accepted a position as Program Director for Home of the Sparrow, an agency that provides services to women and children who are homeless.

As the Program Director and a life coach I am most guided by one of the basic tenets of coaching, the belief that individuals are whole, creative and resourceful.  As a coach, I provide a safe space for exploring and listening to each individuals private thoughts, being witness to them as they give voice to their joy, their suffering and their dreams.  And in that space I partner with them as a coach to discover the who they were born to be.

In the evenings and on weekends you will find me spending time with my partner of 18 years, our six children, one or many of our twelve grandchildren, friends, or working on a quilt project.  In those quiet moments when I gaze into the eyes of our newest grandchild, I feel the wonder and joy that is companion to new life, where will he go, who will he be, what will he find in his new and forming life?  This same joy follows me in every area of my life.

When I meet a client for the first time, I am again filled with the same wonder and curiosity for this person, where will we go, what will we find, what new life awaits us as we begin this journey together? Each connection whether family, friends or quilting brings me the joy that grounds me in the abundance of life and creates a balance for the who I want to be in this world
